Four nights of books, stone walls and long dinners

A house for readers

Gregans Castle sits in the limestone country of County Clare, an hour from Shannon airport. For four nights it is ours alone, so you can read in the sitting room at ten in the morning and nobody minds.

We eat together in the evenings and spend the days as we like. Some of us will walk, some will take the excursions Alanna has planned, and some will stay in with a book.

What your price covers

• Four nights at Gregans Castle, with breakfast
• Dinner together each night, including a welcome dinner on arrival
• Time with Alanna and Corinne, and a house full of other readers

Flights, transfers, lunches, drinks and insurance are not included. Excursions, including a full day on the Aran Islands, are added separately once we know who is coming.

Days to fill as you like

Tuesday to Thursday are open. Add an excursion, or stay in with a book and a long afternoon of rest.

One evening we will have dinner out together at a local restaurant. Details to follow.

Half day options

• Walking folk tales and fairies tour of the Burren, with a guide who tends to burst into song
• Doolin Village and the Cliffs of Moher
• Bunratty Castle
• Cliffs of Moher fossils and wildlife walk
• Walking literary tour of Limerick

Full day options

• The Aran Islands, Gaelic speaking and wonderfully mythical, with a boat crossing, optional bikes and a morning with a local host
• Galway City food, history and music tour
• Burren history, with the Burren Perfumery and Poulnabrone Dolmen
• Medieval castle on Loch Derg, with a speedboat transfer to the island, a hosted lunch, music and dance

Excursions are priced separately and confirmed once we know numbers. A minimum of six guests is needed for each to run.

The rooms

Four room categories, from smallest to largest. The price rises with the size of the room.

• Classic. The smallest room on offer, with a queen bed.
• Superior. A larger room with a king bed.
• Junior Suite. Larger again, with a king bed.
• Premier Suite. The largest rooms, with a king bed.

Some rooms in every category can be set up with two separate beds, so friends can share a room without sharing a bed. Choose that option when you tell us you are interested.

This is not a booking, it does not hold a room, and nothing is charged. Tell us you are interested and we will be in touch with details and how to book. Rooms are confirmed in the order bookings are made, so once a category is full, it is full.
